Scout — survey and shortlist suburbs against any client brief
Scout takes a client brief — budget, commute time, school catchment, hazard tolerance, rental yield, lifestyle preference — and produces a ranked suburb shortlist from the 14,536 Australian suburbs Compass covers. Every recommendation cites the data points that drove the ranking, not opinion or anecdote.
What Scout does
- Ranks suburbs by composite criteria across the full Australian primary-source data layer (state valuer-general, ABS Census, ATO, climate datasets, OSM amenity overlays)
- Filters by budget, commute, schools, employment-shock risk, rental yield, capital-growth trajectory, hazard score, owner-occupier %, and 12+ additional dimensions
- Produces a ranked shortlist of 5-15 suburbs with plain-language reasoning per suburb
- Exports the shortlist as a buyer-deliverable PDF you can hand to the client
- Stays inside research-only scope — no personal-advice ranking, AFSL-friendly disclaimer auto-injected
- Citation chips on every data point in the ranking output

How Scout thinks
Scout's ranking algorithm is published in methodology paper section 10. It reads from the same per-suburb scorecards as Hunter — composite indicators are exposed at recipe-version level so the ranking is reproducible and ASIC FOI-discoverable. The shortlist exports include the data-source dependency map for every metric used in the ranking. Read the methodology paper.
